Space Madness

Audio Walk through the Glass Pyramid

Space Madness: Audio Walk through the Glass Pyramid

© Stadtbibliothek Ulm

Maria Cavaliere has made it! She’s travelling through the cosmos as a test pilot of a state-of-the-art spacecraft — faster and farther than anyone has travelled before. All alone with Columbus One, the artificial intelligence she’s been assigned to test and improve, Maria jets through the unknown darkness. But the controllability of the spacecraft isn’t perfect yet; every surge sends her hurtling blindly through outer space in constant danger of smashing headlong into celestial bodies. Absolutely alone, Maria gradually loses her sense of space and time, and her memories catch up with her. Or are there other people aboard the spacecraft after all?

Narration by Jenny Evans
Sound design by Jens Schalle

This audio walk was made possible with the Innovativsfonds Kunst 2020, an art initiative by the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts.

The audio walk can be experienced individually during the opening hours of the Central Library (Zentralbibliothek): Tuesday through Friday from 10.00 a.m. to 7.00 p.m. and Saturday from 10.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m.

Please download the complete audio data to your device (Smartphone, mp3-Player) and listen to the audio walk in the Central Library with headphones only. The audio walk is best enjoyed on your own, using your own equipment. Over-ear headphones will better immerse you in the sound and story. If you don’t have an audio data device or any listening equipment of your own, you can leave a deposit (your ID card) to borrow both at the counter on the ground floor of the glass pyramid.
